Excursion and Banquet Wednesday
On March 22, Wednesday, afternoon there will be a common excursion by bus
to the medieval cathedral of Speyer (including burial sites of ancient
German emperors such as Henry IV, who went to Canossa...) and to the
``Weinstrasse'' scenic area. We will visit the small village of Flemlingen
(Pfalz) with its wine-growing estate Marienhof.
There will be the option to join a wine tasting of local wines, or you can
stroll through the vineyards and nearby Pfalz mountain forest, or join a
walk to ``Villa Ludwigshöhe'' with guided tour (this topic subject
to confirmation). It was built by the Bavarian king Ludwig I. in Roman style
(he entertained there among others the notorious Lola Montez).
In the evening we will all return to Marienhof, where the conference banquet
takes place, in a rustic setting with traditionally furnished dining rooms.
Please note that beverages ordered individually during
the banquet are not covered by the conference fee and have to be
paid separately by the participants.
