Andreas Ernst Welcome to my Homepage! |
![]() |
I am a postdoc in astronomy in the group of Prof. Dr. Rainer Spurzem and PD Dr. Andreas Just at the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut (ARI), which is now part of Center for Astronomy of the University of Heidelberg (ZAH). My PhD advisor was PD Dr. Andreas Just. My office is room W.E-03 located in the ARI "outpost" at Weberstr. 13, 69120 Heidelberg-Neuenheim.
My field of work is experimental stellar dynamics. The word "experimental" means, that I use computer experiments to study the dynamical evolution of stellar systems, where stars interact through gravity. Since my N-body simulations require a huge amount of computer power, I make use of the Beowulf clusters Hydra and Titan at the ARI and the super computers IBM Regatta p690+, Cray XD1 and IBM Blue Gene/L at the Research Center Jülich. Our group is also involved in the new GRID computing technologies (D-GRID, DEISA).
