Here are some useful travel and arrival infos for you regarding Frankfurt airport and the way to Heidelberg.
On arrival you should first have a look whether you are on Terminal 2 (Areas D,E) (new light glass-steel construction) or Terminal 1 (Areas A,B,C) (more old fashioned terminal fingers). There is a free sky train running between the terminals in the public area (after leaving the transit zone).
Connection to Heidelberg is via train, Lufthansa airport bus or TLS minibus shuttle. The minibus shuttle cost Euro 33 per travel, it is called TLS shuttle service, (from inside Germany: phone 06221/770077, English spoken). They offer door-to-door minivan service from the airport to downtown Heidelberg, any address you want (venue address: Kirchhoff Institute for Physics (KIP), Im Neuenheimer Feld 227, 69120 Heidelberg; Address of our institute: Astronomisches Rechen-Institut, Moenchhofstr. 12-14, 69120 Heidelberg). After calling TLS they may have a vacancy within the next 30 minutes. They pick up from the designated meeting points (one in Terminal 2, E, another in Terminal 1, B).
Train and Lufthansa bus shuttle leave ONLY from Terminal 1. If you choose the train, please check www.bahn.de to get timetable infos, origin: Frankfurt Flughafen, destination Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof ; also in English (click on the flag). At the airport you have to proceed to the long distance railway station (10 minutes walk through long corridors) as opposed to the regional train railway station.
The Lufthansa airport bus could until recently be used without reservation and the driver sold the tickets. Recently travellers reported that they use smaller buses and require pre-booking. Please check the departure times of the Lufthansa bus under Lufthansa Airport Bus to Heidelberg (English in pulldown menu) It goes to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Heidelberg city centre. This is a convenient pick up point.
Here are some phone numbers for emergencies:

(call from outside Germany: drop leading zero, add country code +49 )
You can buy convenient telephone cards at Frankfurt airport at news stands or other shops for use in the many public phone booths (there are few left over which take coins).
Just for your convenience there are two maps. One of ``Neuenheim'' (KIP is located below the 'Mensa' flag), one of ``Heidelberg'' . On the Heidelberg map you see in the middle south Bismarckplatz and Kurfuerstenanlage. The Lufthansa bus terminus is next to Kurfuerstenanlage, south of Bismarckplatz. ARI - our institute - is near the white sign ``Neuenheim'' at Moenchhofstrasse. You can see all this in a zoom in the neuenheim picture.
All the best, it will be great to see you here,
