The bibliographical information on the literature from 1899 until 1968 will be given in the ARIBIB in the 'image format'. This image format contains firstly the same information as the 'index format' (i.e. author, year, chapter title of the AJB as 'keywords', volume number and page of the AJB for reference), and provides secondly a link to a GIF image (in our database ARIPRINT) of that page of the astronomical bibliography 'Astronomischer Jahresbericht' (AJB) which cites the corresponding paper.

For the AJB volumes with the literature for 1918 to 1953, the links given in the image format do not show at present the desired page but only a message that this page is not accessible for external users. As long as the image of such a page is not accessible, the user has to inspect the printed version of the AJB. The information given in the link is helpful in this respect: It gives the volume number of the AJB and the number of the page on which the corresponding paper(s) can be found in this AJB volume.

The image format is also used for the old literature from ancient times until about 1880.
