Three ZAH astronomers among the authors of the 40 most influential papers in the journal "Astronomy & Astrophysics"
Astronomy & Astrophysics, the most prominent European astronomical journal, celebrates its 40th anniversary. On this occasion, this week the editors published a special issue that reprints the 40 most influential articles which appeared in this journal during the past 40 years. The selection criterion was the largest number of citations among all the papers that have appeared in A&A over the 40 years. Each of the selected articles is presented together with an expert commentary highlighting the context of the original publication and the advances it has continued to bring to astrophysics since then.ZAH astronomers figure among the authors of three of these articles:
1980: Dr. Gerhard Klare, in "The spatial distribution of interstellar extinction", Astron. Astrophys. Suppl. Ser. 42, p. 251-281
1997: Dr. Ulrich Bastian, in "The Hipparcos Catalogue", Astron. Astrophys. 323, p. L49-L52
2000: Dr. Ulrich Bastian and Dr. Peter Schwekendiek, in "The Tycho-2 Catalogue of the 2.5 million brightest stars", Astron. Astrophys. 355, p. L27-L30
